An upscale deal to look out for at Mr. C's restaurant is their daily Business Lunch three-course prix fixe menu which costs $24.95. It sat very well with me indeed.
I had a marinated salmon trout to start which was wonderfully light, and followed it with a perfectly grilled Branzino and long, elegant stalks of broccoli, firm and flavorful as they should be. What I loved was the simplicity of the main which wasn’t loaded down with heavy sauces, garnish and such but cooked the real Italian way with some light olive oil and seasoning. Often the Italian food you get in LA is a more baroque, heavy and dramatic version of the regional cuisine (which can actually be refreshingly light in its real format and context).
Some of their mains on their a-la-cart menu include veal kidney with risotto alla Milanese, Dover sole filet with artichokes and prime beef tenderloin alla Rossini.
