By Jamison Selby, About.com

15 Minutes From Everything:

Where are you standing if you can get to Hollywood, Burbank, or Encino in under 15 minutes? Add on another 10 and you can make it to Downtown or Beverly Hills. It's Studio City, the gateway between the San Fernando Valley and the rest of Los Angeles.

It's got beautiful streets, highly-regarded schools, great restaurants, and cool shopping. It's an entertainment industry town and many of Hollywood's best and brightest call it home. There are Angelenos who would never consider living north of Mulholland Drive. The residents of Studio City hope they never their minds.

History:

If you stand at the intersection of Ventura Blvd. and Laurel Canyon Blvd. you are at the spot where a 200-acre film studio called the Mack Sennett Studios opened in 1928. Some of the famous Keystone Cops movies were shot there. The Depression put Sennett out of business but the name Studio City stuck and the area became a fixture of the L.A. landscape.
