Memorial Day weekend is here again. Avoid the traffic and long lines and check out some Memorial Day alternatives.
1. National Moment of Remembrance
You don't have to be at any particular spot to take part in this event. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing you'll be in the right location. Congress established the National Moment of Remembrance to encourage one and all to take a moment to honor those who have fallen in defense of the freedoms we all enjoy. It takes place from 3:00pm to 3:01pm local time on Memorial Day, May 26th.

2. Arclight Cinemas
Air conditioning, assigned seating and a full bar. It's not a traditional Memorial Day festivity but what better day for an old-fashioned double-feature? The original Hollywood Dome still offers the best viewing experience in LA and now a sister location has opened at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. Check out the Arclight website for the full schedule.

For a really special treat the Observatory will be hosting a special event on Sunday, May 25th with live coverage as NASA’s Phoenix Mars Mission lands on the Red Planet from 3pm till closing.
