Beyond the barbecue, there's a whole range of things to do in LA in July.

Cirque Berzerk

When: Through July 5

Where: Los Angeles State Historic Park

What: Enter the psychedelic and sinister, Burning Man style world of this 35-member adult alternative circus troupe.

Americafest

When: July 4

Where: Rose Bowl

What: This has been called 'the granddaddy of fireworks shows.' Chill out in Pasadena and then end your day with a spectacular show in the evening.

Fireworks and Fogerty

When: July 4

Where: Hollywood Bowl

What: John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival fame performs. And after the concert, the sky fills with fireworks.

Outfest

When: July 9-19

Where: Various venues

What: The LA gay and lesbian film festival showcases films, videos, panels and awards.

Lotus Festival

When: July 10-12

Where: Echo Park, Park Ave. between Glendale Ave. and Echo Park Blvd.

What: The festival celebrates Asian and Pacific Islander cultures and includes a flower show, dragon-boat races, art and ethnic food. Note: this year's festival has been cancelled. Please check their website for updates and possible future events.

Chinatown Art Nights

When: July 11

Where: Various galleries

What: An evening art walk through the alleyways and courtyards of Chinatown and its 32 cutting edge art galleries.

Pictures of the Year International

When: July 11-October

Where: The Annenberg Space for Photography

What: This young LA arts center hosts its second show--a roundup of photojournalists and visual editors who won one of the oldest, most prestigious photojournalism competitions in the world.

Edge Fest

When: July 13 (and July 22)

Where: Autry National Center of the American West, Griffith Park Campus.

What: This annual event showcases the work of LA-based theater artists, the Los Angeles History Project and the Los Angeles Future Project.

Bastille Day LA Festival 2009

When: July 14

Where: Elysian Park

What: Vive LA France! Pay tribute to this special French holiday with market vendors, sidewalk cafes, French food and wine, and street performers.

Los Angeles Career Fair

When: July 14

Where: The Radisson Hotel at Los Angeles Airport

What: Find the right job for you. An array of industries and employers will be represented, including banking, advertising and tourism.
