Spring is in full swing. April is a busy month with several film festivals taking place, along with Easter and Earth Day Events--and of course the great arts and entertainment events for which LA is known. 



Easter Brunches and Egg Hunts

When: April 3-4

Where: Descanso Gardens, La Canada Flintridge

What: What better way to celebrate spring’s crowning holiday than to be surrounded by lush gardens? This event includes a buffet by Patina chefs and of course the much anticipated egg hunt open to all children under 14 (who will receive an Easter basket). Call for reservations.

Crawling Down Cahuenga: Tom Waits' LA Bus Tour

When: April 3

Where: Bus tour departs from The King Edward Saloon, Downtown

What: If you’re a fan of legendary musical artist Tom Waits you won’t want to miss this Esotouric offbeat once-a-year bus tour. Cruise around Waits’ hometown and find out about the people, places and late night pastries that shaped the gravely-voiced master’s life.

Egg-Cellent Magnolia Bicycle Tour and Treasure Hunt

When: April 3

Where: Magnolia Park, Burbank

What: Celebrate Easter while spinning your wheels (in a good way). Hop on a bike with your family and friends, and take a ride through the Magnolia Park neighborhood for a treasure hunt from 3 to 7 p.m. The event is free to the public.

Dreamgirls

When: Through April 4

Where: Ahmanson Theatre, Music Center, Downtown

What: Get up close and person to the Dreamgirls story as the Music Center hosts a stage performance of the popular musical. Dreamgirls is the rags-to-riches tale of a girl group in the 1960s.

Chamber Music Up Close

When: April 10

Where: Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock

What: Guitarist and lutenist Michael Kurdirka joins the Formalist Quartet with violist Melinda Rice for an intimate repertoire of music for guitar, lute and string ensemble.

The Six-String Showdown

When: April 11

Where: The Cellar, Long Beach

What: Got the blues? Don’t make it a solo experience. Come down to Long Beach where 10 great electric blues guitarists from SoCal will perform at this blues music event.

The Renaissance Pleasure Faire

When: April 10-May 23

Where: Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, Irwindale

Third Annual LA Heritage Day

When: April 11

Where: Heritage Square Museum, Pasadena

Caetano Veloso

When: April 15

Where: Greek Theatre, Los feliz

What: Otherwise known as ‘the Boby Dylan of Brazil,’ this legendary singer-songwriter-guitarist and political activist performs at the Greek with special guest AM.

Taylor Swift

When: April 15-16

Where: Staples Center, Downtown

What: The country-pop singer-songwriter performs two mega-shows at Staples.
