Creative PlayGround Presents Halloween Stories
When: Oct. 30
Where: The Will Greer Theatricum Botanicum, Topanga
What: The Halloween spirit in poetry and literature is explored with dramatic readings of Edgar Allen Poe's poem The Raven, Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost and a sing-along of "Go Down Moses." Kids will also get to create their own tissue paper ghosts for the event.
Los Angeles Haunted Hayride
When: Oct. 8-31
Where: Griffith Park, Old Zoo, Los Feliz
What: Though an East Coast tradition, the haunted hayride makes its way to the West Coast. Step inside a tractor drawn hay-filled wagon and make your way through the forest where mascots of death, a haunted hay maze, clowns and scenes of horror await. Tickets are $25-$57. Private wagon (up to 40 people) rates range from $1,175-$1,275.
The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor
When: Oct. 1-31, 7 p.m.
Where: The Queen Mary, Long Beach
What: A South Bay Halloween tradition, this fright fest features three shipboard and two onshore mazes, food, drinks and entertainment. Tickets cost $35 (general admission), $39 (Frequent Fright Pass) and $60 (VIP).
