Independence Day is just around the corner. That's when the city of LA turns into a giant party zone complete with cook-outs, fireworks spectaculars, parades and other celebrations. Fourth of July events in Los Angeles abound. Check out this list of what some neighborhoods are doing to celebrate this summer's most spectacular holiday.

Alhambra

What: Free Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza

When: July 4, 9 p.m.

Where: Almansor Park, 800 S. Almansor St.

Details: Bring your own picnic or purchase food; come early as parking is limited.

Burbank

What: Salute to America

When: July 4, gates open at 5:30 p.m.; entertainment from 6:15-9 p.m.; fireworks at 9 p.m.

Where: Starlight Bowl, 1249 Lockheed View Dr.

Details: An evening of music and fun culminating in an aerial fireworks finale.

Culver City

What: Fourth of July Fireworks Show

When: July 4, gates open at 5 p.m.; entertainment starts at 6:30 p.m.; fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Where: Culver City High School, 4401 Elenda St.

Details: Suggested donation is $2 (children under five enter free). Hot dogs, soda and kettle corn will be available for purchase. Parking in a nearby lot costs $5 per car.

Downtown Environs

What: Annual Vision Outside 4th of July Jazz and Blues Festival in Leimert Park

When: July 4, 1-7 p.m.

Where: Vision Theatre back lot, 3341 W. 43rd Pl.

Details: The celebration kicks off with free jazz in the park at 1 p.m. The celebration culminates in fireworks.

Hollywood

What: Fireworks Spectacular With Special Guests Daryl Hall & John Oates

When: July 4, 7:30 p.m.

Where: The Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave.

Details: Celebrate the 4th with pop and patriotism at the Bowl. Performers include pop duo Hall & Oates, The Hollywood Bowl orchestra and conductor Thomas Wilkins.

Long Beach

What: Fourth of July Celebration

When: July 4, 3 p.m. (fireworks at 9 p.m.)

Where: The Queen Mary, 1126 Queen's Highway

Details: Enjoy the fair during the day and fireworks at night. GRAMMY nominee Lisa Haley and the Zydekats are set to perform at 4:30 p.m. andf 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $24.95 for adults, $12.95 for children 5-11 and $21.95 for seniors 65 and up.

Pacific Palisades

What: 63rd Annual Fourth of July Parade

When: July 4, 2 p.m.

Where: The Palisades Recreation Center, 851 Alma Real Dr. (run); Sunset Blvd. in Pacific Palisades, between Via de la Paz and Drummond (parade); Palisades Charter High School, 15777 Bowdoin St. (fireworks)

Details: Join this year's parade marshall, actor Jeffrey Tambor and a cast of over 1000 marchers for an afternoon of Fourth of July spirit.

What: Americafest 4th of July Celebration

When: July 7 p.m.

Where: The Rose Bowl, 1001 Rose Bowl Dr.

Details: A day of music, food and fireworks featuring the Drum Corps International Performance and Military Tribute. General admission costs $13; children seven and under and active military with ID enter free.

Redondo Beach

What: Seaside Lagoon Independence Day Celebration

When: July 4, gates open at 2 p.m., fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

Where: Seaside Lagoon, 200 Portofino Way

Details: Beyond the food, fireworks and fun, the Seaside Lagoon is now open for swimming. Reserve parking and seating. Seats are $18 for adults and $12 for children with additional family packages for $100-$300.
