Watch just a few minutes of Access Hollywood or TMZ and you'll probably get an ear and eyeful of tales of celebrities who moved out to LA to become famous (and succeeded). But there are loads of Hollywood actors and actresses who were born and raised here too. Many of them are the children of other celebrities--who probably moved out to LA from elsewhere. Others just happened to be in the right place at the right time, as the saying goes. Here's a list and photos of some of Hollywood's native sons, and daughters.
Angelina Jolie
The curious case of Mrs. Pitt, isn't so curious. Jolie came from a Hollywood family, as the daughter of Midnight Cowboy actor Jon Voigt. The Mr. and Mrs. Smith and A Mighty Heart star was born in Los Angeles and went to Beverly Hills High School.
Nicolas Cage
The rumor was that Cage didn't want to make it as an actor by being known as 'Francis Ford Coppola's nephew.' So the G-Force and Ghost Rider star changed his name from Coppola to Cage. He also attended Beverly Hills High School about a decade before Angelina Jolie did.
Shia LaBeouf
Disturbia and Transformers star Shia was born an only child in Los Angeles. He allegedly got his start in 'the biz' by doing stand-up comedy around his neighborhood.
Tori Spelling
The actress who got her start on the original Beverly Hills, 90210 was not method acting when she played BH local 'Donna.' The daughter of TV producer Aaron Spelling, she grew up in Beverly Hills but attended private school Harvard-Westlake, not the fictitious West Beverly High.
America Ferrera
Best known for her role in the TV show Ugly Betty, actress America Ferrera was born in LA. But the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star followed her family (and pants) from Honduras to the city of angels. She is said to have attended El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills.
Jonah Hill
Though born in Mill Valley in Northern California, Superbad show-stealer and Judd Apatow crew member Jonah Hill grew up in LA. He went to the private experimental arts school Crossroads in Santa Monica (known to have produced its share of famous graduates).
Gwyneth Paltrow
The daughter of actress Blythe Danner and producer/director Bruce Paltrow was born and raised in LA. The Iron Man starlet also went to Crossroads.
Zooey Deschanel
The child of actress Mary Jo Deschanel and cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, Zooey was born and raised in LA. The Yes Man co-star also went to Crossroads School in Santa Monica.
Jason Schwartzman
Part of the film industry's illustrious Coppola dynasty, Schwartzman is the son of Godfather and Rocky actress Talia Shire and producer Jack Schwartzman. He's Francis Ford Coppola's nephew and Nicholas Cage and Sophia Coppola's cousin.
Drew Barrymore
Don't let the ditzy act fool you; Drew Barrymore comes from a powerhouse family in Hollywood. Her grandfather was John Barrymore and her great aunt and uncle were Ethyl Barrymore and Lionel Barrymore (film industry royals). The Grey Gardens and Charlie's Angels star is about as synonymous with Hollywood as Oscar himself.
