Summer's almost over but great things to do in LA--outdoors and indoors--keep coming in. Here is an eclectic list of August events in Los Angeles. There's something for everyone.

What: Open air concerts, picnics, and movie screenings are just a few of the summer activities in LA worth looking into. Surf culture too feels fully in bloom in the summer months as many people take off early from work on Fridays to put in a little R&R beach time.
World Convocation
When: Through August 4
Where: Westin Bonaventure Hotel, Downtown
What: The late Paramahansa Yogananda is largely credited with bringing yogic science and philosophy to the West through his Self- Realization Fellowship (SRF). This month, SRF members from LA and around the world congregate in Downtown for meditations, classes and inspirational talks pertaining to the master and his teachings.
Aries Spears and Damon Wayans Jr.
When: August 4, 9 p.m.
Where: Club Nokia, Downtown
What: A night of comedy with Aries Spear and Damon Wayans Jr. The stars are also joined by Jay Phillips and Byron Bowers. Tickets range from $35-$45.
Sea Side Art Walk
When: August 12, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (and September 9)
Where: Avenue of the Arts, 181 N. Harbor Dr., Redondo Beach Marina
What: Explore a seaside collection of fine art--from jewelry, ceramics and wearable art, to sculpture, photography and paintings.
Orange County Fair
When: Through August 12
Where: OC Fair and Event Center
What: This annually anticipated mega-fair features a carnival, bull riding and concerts from an eclectic group of musical artists (ranging from Spanish guitar to Sinatra-esque lounge).
Long Beach Funk Fest
When: August 18, 12-11 p.m.
Where: Pine and Broadway, Long Beach
What: Get down on it with a free day-long celebration of all things funky, featuring live music, dance, vendors, DJs and more.
H2O Music Festival
When: Through August 25
Where: LA State Historic Park
What: This festival showcases the hottest Latin and English language artists. Headliners include: Snoop Dogg, Paulina Rubio, John Legend, Ozomatli. DJ Creme and DJ Cristian also join the party, spinning vinyl gold.
ClassicsFest 2012
When: Through August 27
Where: The Antaeus Company at Def West Theatre, N. Hollywood
What: LA classical theatre ensemble The Antaeus Company presents its annual "summer splash" of actor-initiated workshops, readings and special events during which audiences get the chance to choose from a mix of the classics.
Come Out & Dance!
When: Thursdays through August
Where: AMC Walkway, Burbank
What: Dance the summer away at this weekly summer music festival featuring boogie, hop, cha cha cha and more. Festivities kick off nightly at 7 p.m. with a dance lesson.
KCRW's World Festival
When: Sundays through September
Where: Hollywood Bowl
What: In its 14th year, this collaborative event between KCRW and the Hollywood Bowl will showcase amazing artists from all over the world on seven Sundays through September. There doesn't appear to be anything scheduled for August (TBA) but it's a good time to purchase tickets for popular September shows like Animal Collective and Wilco.
