Spring is in the air. And so are plenty of fun film, music, art, sports and multimedia events and festivals in Los Angeles. 

Susan G. Komen LA County Race for the Cure

When: March 1

When: Dodger Stadium

What: This is the 15th year that 'Race for the Cure' has been taking place. It includes a 5K race, 5K walk, and 10K double down, all to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer and a cure for it.

LA Writers Conference: Journey to Publication

When: March 1, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: Curacao Training Center

What: This event offers literary mavens an opportunity to learn about the writing industry from the pros.

Ernst Lubitsch's 'Three Women'

When: March 1, 4:45

Where: Silent Movie Theatre

What: As part of its 'Silent Treatment' program, the theatre screens Ernst Lubitsch's 1924 film.

The LA Marathon

When: March 9

Where: Downtown to Santa Monica

What: This annual 'stadium-to-sea' 26-mile race (which also features a 5K) will take runners all over the city, from a start-point at Dodger Stadium through West Hollywood, Beverly and ultimately to a finish-line in Santa Monica.

Dave Stewart

When: March 14, 2014, 8 p.m.

Where: El Rey Theatre

What: The original January performance by English musician and composer Dave Stewart (formerly of Eurythmics) was canceled and rescheduled for this date, March 14th.

Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Community Parade

When: March 15

Where: Pier Ave. and Valley Dr. Hermosa Beach

What: If you live in the South Bay or just need a beach getaway on St. Patty’s Day, head down to this parade. There will be floats, marching bands, classic cars, clowns and more starting at 11 a.m. 

Pamper Me Fabulous

When: March 15, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Where: Orange County

What: Girl's day out, anyone? This pampering spa event brings together spas and beauty companies from Southern California to offer guests workshops, workouts, shopping, mini-spa and beauty treatments and more in a festive atmosphere with drinks and music. Tickets are $15.

The Unknown Henry Miller: A Seeker in Big Sur

When: March 16, 2014, 4 p.m.

Where: Book Soup, West Hollywood

What: Arthur Hoyle presents and signs the book The Unknown Henry Miller: A Seeker in Big Sur, which was written in cooperation with Anais Nin. The author recounts Miller's career from its origins in Paris in the '30s but the emphasis will be on his years in Big Sur, from 1944 to 1961.

Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City (1993-1994)

When: March 22, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Billy Wilder Theater, Westwood

What: Armistead Maupin’s novels about the denizens of '70s San Francisco were adapted for TV on PBS. The event will screen the show’s first two episodes, and feature Maupin himself.

Cherry Blossom Festival

When: March 22-23, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: Descanso Gardens, La Canada-Flintridge

What: This annual Japanese themed festival is tied to the blooming of Descanso's beautiful cherry trees, which will be available for purchase. Visitors will experience a Japanese tea ceremony, guided tours, Japanese cooking demonstration, and get to sample bento box lunches and signature cocktails from The Camellia Lounge.
