What: The hubris, the bombastic sense of irony, the kitschy, the creepy...they all make up Shatner's World. For this one-night-only live stage appearance, William Shatner will re-visit his highs and lows in his usual dramatic style.

Narrative Inventions in Photography

What: An exhibition that showcases contemporary creators who are combining text and photography. Artists featured: Carrie Mae Weems, Eileen Cowin and Simryn Gill.
Ultimate Wine Festival
When: March 12, 2012, 6-9 p.m.
Where: Shade Hotel, Manhattan Beach
What: This 7th edition of an annual event will showcase 20 top California winemakers and include hors d'oeuvres. A percentage of the proceeds from the $100 entrance fee goes to Manhattan Beach Middle School. Space is limited to 200 guests so buy your tickets soon.
Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Community Parade
When: March 17, 11 a.m.
Where: Pier Ave. and Valley Dr. Hermosa Beach
What: If you live in the South Bay or just need a beach getaway on St. Patty’s Day, head down to this parade--now in its 18th year. There will be floats, marching bands, classic cars, clowns and more starting at 11 a.m.
2012 St. Patricks Day Festival
When: March 17, 1-5 p.m.
Where: 6525 W Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028
What: This slightly early celebration of the most Irish day of the year takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. It includes a full day of wine, beer and spirit drinking, as well as food. General admission tickets are $25 (2-5 p.m.) and $35 for VIP (1-5 p.m.).
The LA Marathon
When: March 18
Where: Downtown to Santa Monica
What: This annual 'stadium-to-sea' 26-mile race (which also features a 5K) will take runners all over the city, from a start-point at Dodger Stadium through West Hollywood, Beverly and ultimately to a finish-line in Santa Monica.
Susan G. Komen LA County Race for the Cure
When: March 24
Where: Dodger Stadium, Elysian Park
What: The annual 'Race for the Cure' includes a 5K race, 5K walk, and ‘Kids Fun Run,’ all to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer and a cure for it.
Duff McKagan Signs 'It's So Easy: And Other Lies'

What: Remember Duff McKagan from Guns n' Roses? You know, "the hot one." Well I guess technically they were all hot but Duff was my personal favorite. And he'll be at Book Soup signing copies of his memoir--a "harrowing journey through the dark heart of one of the most notorious bands in rock-and-roll history and out the other side."
