Remember the '90s and the Rodney King police abuse scandal and riots? Back then, hip-hop music had a worthy foe in the cops. It looks like this may once again be the case.
LA Observed and The Daily Beast are buzzing about 'the latest use-of-force incident to surface in recent months involving the Los Angeles Police Department, which has been grappling with a series of brutality claims--some of which have been caught on tape' (to quote the latter).
Tons of mischief on the part of the police is raising people's dander: footage of an officer sucker-punching a handcuffed skateboarder, and reports that an officer kicked a woman in the groin.
As a result, the LA Police Commission, which oversees the polices department, is taking a look at such cases to ascertain whether they have a full-scale police brutality trend on their hands, or simply a few unfortunate, isolated incidents.
