I join the majority of people out there when I say I was sickened by news of the Dark Knight Rises movie theatre shooting in Aurora, Colorado. My heart goes out to the victims' families.
The unfortunate combination of a twisted mind and a system that seems to make obtaining fire arms relatively easy proved catastrophic for the southwestern community (and for our Nation as a whole).
Now, details are emerging about the character and life of James Holmes, the prime mass-slaughter suspect. LA Times has the story of his past as a student at the Universities of California (Riverside and San Diego).
Descriptions are wide-ranging: from 'shy,' 'socially inept,' 'a mediocre student,' and 'arrogant,' to 'a nice guy,' 'brilliant,' 'a really smart guy,' and 'a little weird.' Of course none of this matters when you consider that a man's character is defined by his actions.
In other trivial news, Variety is reporting that, despite an impressive weekend at the box office, Warner Bros. (the studio behind The Dark Knight Rises) has suspended reporting numbers.
