LA Event for Habitat for Humanity

Who's not eager to jump in the water and have a swim in the summertime here in So.Cal? This Saturday, July 31st, 'Dawn Patrol' will have their [swimming] work cut out for them.

The seven-person relay team will begin to traverse 28.3 miles from Catalina Island to Long Beach to raise funds for charities like Habitat for Humanity LA, Breast Cancer Angels, Children Today and Casa Youth Center.

They estimate they'll be swimming (overnight) for about 14 hours, arriving at the Long Beach Yacht Club (LBYC) around 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 1st, where they will be greeted by crowds and a celebratory barbecue. Tickets for this after-party are $50 for adults and $15 for children.

To get more information or tickets to this ambitious charity race after-party, go to the Swim 2010's website.

What a great event that raised awareness and money for some great causes. I hope they consider making this an annual event.
