Charles Manson Follower Up For Parole

It's unfortunately part of LA's macabre and disturbing history: the grisly murders of actress Sharon Tate and her friends, and the La Biancas in 1969 at the hands of Charles Manson's cult of mostly female followers.

It's once again in the limelight as one of the Mansonettes, Leslie Van Houten is up for her 19th parole hearing with a new lawyer this week. The inmate at the California Institute for Women in Frontera faces a hearing today to determine whether or not she'll be suitable for parole.

Van Houten's chances of parole are above average as she has been discipline free since she was first jailed in her early 20s. AP has the full story.

It is my belief--and has been the popular belief for some time--that no one associated with those gruesome murders will ever be released as they constitute one of the darkest chapters of LA's history.
