Being a total science nerd, I was elated to discover that I hadn't missed the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's (JPL) free open house weekend. Some friends were chatting about the annual event and for some reason I thought it was over the Mother's Day weekend.
Alas, this revered and legendary Pasadena-based institution for space R&D and NASA field center will open its doors to the public on Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What exactly does that mean? Well, if you've ever wondered what the JPL is up to, this educational orientation day should answer your questions. You'll get to see what they're working on in terms of research and space exploration and maybe even talk to some scientists and engineers (who will be on-hand to answer questions).
The center is located at 4800 Oak Grove Dr. in Pasadena. For more info contact the JPL's public services department at 818-354-0112.
