The "thirty-mile zone" is about to get some extra mileage. LA gossip site (and TV show) TMZ is set to launch TMZ Sports, according to an article in today's New York Times. They've of course already got a Sports section, but this would take the A-Rod obsessions and such to a new level. As you might imagine, it will be something like "all Tiger, all the time," so to speak--with Woodsworthy scandals and intrigue abounding.
Apparently, TMZ's freedom from AOL (it is now only beholden to Time Warner) has primed and facilitated the execution of the sports gossip site.
Stay tuned, because head honcho Harvey Levin is apparently now hiring for it. One would imagine that TMZ Sports too will be headquartered in LA (like TMZ). For inquiries and possibilities email TMZ's HR.
The article goes on to talk about the possibility of expansion into politics. Is TMZ (and TMI) taking over the world? Should we be afraid?
