LA Gets a Whiff of THC Expo

Who would have thought that the LA Convention Center would be the host location of a trade fair for marijuana/hemp related industries? Somehow, native Angelino Brian Roberts (pictured above), one of the founders of the new THC Expo found a legitimate home for an unusual event.

This weekend (through Sunday), over 300 cannabis related businesses will showcase their wares to their cannabis based consumers (according to the Expo's web site). And what would those wares happen to be? Think "glass art," naturally. And of course, hemp is becoming an increasingly popular ingredient in everyday goods, from shampoo to clothing.

Special guests are lined up for the event, including rapper and producer DJ Pooh and Julia Butterfly Hill (a.k.a. the environmentalist who saved a 600-year-old California Redwood from loggers by living in the tree). There are also some (not officially confirmed) murmurs that other surprise guests will include the usual (marijuana legalization supporter) suspects like Woody Harrelson, Tommy Chong (of 'Cheech and Chong' fame) and comedian Bill Maher.
