Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you enjoy your day and evening with family and friends. If you're looking to lend a helping hand to those in need--as posted in my November Events Calendar--check out the Westside Thanksgiving Celebration where donations and volunteering are welcome.
And speaking of calendars, 'December Events in LA' is up if you would like to get a head start on socializing.

The Celebrity Vault in Beverly Hills--a beautiful photography gallery that sells images of legends like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix--has just acquired some rare Beatles prints.
The works are respectively by Robert Freeman and Michael Cooper who shot the covers of such classic albums as Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, With the Beatles and Beatles for Sale.
Six "Sgt Pepper's" images by Cooper are going for the set price of a cool $34,000 while the individual 28" x 28" images from that grouping are on sale for $6,325.

As Thanksgiving approaches much of LA will start to feel like a ghost town. Folks are headed home for the holidays. Some locals will get to sample Mom's pride and joy. But for LA foodies, and those of us not too keen on cooking, this suburban metropolis offers a solution: dine out at a restaurant for Thanksgiving.
Here is just a small handful of eateries around LA that are offering special Thanksgiving set menu dinners:
- Blvd. 16 at Hotel Palomar in Westwood (includes Kabocha squash Agnoletti with braised collard greens, brown butter, pomegranate and shaved pecorino)
- Cafe La Boheme in West Hollywood (even offers diners a vegetarian option: mushroom tartlet)
- Falcon Hollywood (offers, apart from turkey, an entree option of oven-roasted baked ham with pineapple and molasses)
- Fuego at the Hotel Maya in Long Beach (this Mexican-inspired dinner includes a braised turkey tamale with fresh sage, served with a traditional mole negro from Oaxaca)
- Henry's Hat in Studio City (includes lots of traditional treats as well as brown butter and honey glazed ham with clove and cardamom)
- Jar in West Hollywood (the meal is served family style with large platters and portions determined by how many people are in your party; beyond turkey it includes chestnut chickpea soup)
- Whist at the Viceroy in Santa Monica (includes gratis side dishes to compliment the roasted turkey breast and leg confit with cranberry-orange chutney and maple glazed cured ham)
Bon appetit!

It may not snow in LA, so white Christmases are pretty much out of the question. But the W Hotel is making sure Angelinos get to enjoy the spirit of the winter holidays in the capital of sunshine and style--LA style. The Westwood designer hotel has transformed its WET pool deck into a 1,300 square foot hybrid-ice skating rink!
The winter wonderland set-up designed by YourBASH will be around through January 24, 2010. The $10 hourly skating fee includes skate rental (though guests can also bring their own) and requires no reservations.
Also in tune with the holiday spirit, the hotel invites guests to cozy up in the W blankets it provides while sipping hot cocoa. The Backyard's "Snowy Snack Bar," offers winter revelers other seasonal drinks and eats like s'mores, pumpkin lattes and hazelnut espresso martinis. Now that sure puts the "W" back in "wassailing."
